A single leaf rests against the lip of a green bottle. The bottle is not quite straight; frosted glass, softened as if by long handling, leans a little to one side. The leaf leans the other way. Between them, a balance that neither could hold alone.
There is nothing else on the shelf. The cream wall takes most of the frame, and the eye keeps returning to the small place where glass meets stem. It is a photograph about the amount of company a thing needs — and how little that can be.
One leaf. One vessel. Not a bouquet, not a garden. The picture proposes that this is already complete, and after a while it becomes difficult to disagree.
